The MOU- Museum of Oudenaarde and the Flemish Ardennes – brings 1000 years history of the city, located in Flanders most beautiful landscape, back to life.
The museum is situated in one of Belgium’s most beautiful town halls.
On ground floor a guide will take you, via interactive media and historical pieces, on a travel through time, from the Middle Ages up till now. Oudenaarde was world-famous for its tapestries, especially the verdures (green carpets with beautiful landscapes) were very popular. The walls are covered with authentic tapestries, the majority of which date back to the 16th and 17th century.
In three other rooms you will discover that Oudenaarde was also an important center for silversmithing. The collection De Boever- Alligoridès is one of the largest silver collections in Flanders, with objects from eleven European countries.
